Vancouver Olympics 2010

Google Search

If you have seen the google search banner/logo as of lately, I can’t help but notice the way banner is shown from its previous. This time though the design is much larger than usual. It shows the opening of the Vancouver winter olympics, starting this day.

Of course, the news about it is really popular in the web. The interesting is that before even the Vancouver Olympic started like having financial concerns and the lack of snow have dampened the glitter of the event(talk about global warming)

Also even before the Olympics have started more than 30 competitors have already been disqualified after testing positive for forbidden substances. (Mayweather is rambling about it against our Manny Pacquiao)

It is still fun to watch though even just I can see and touch an actual snow(if there were any here), that would make a lot fun.

Roger Federer Australian Open 2010 Champion

Roger once again proved his supremacy in the tennis world after defeating Andy Murray in 3 straight sets 6-3 6-4 7-6. I have seen the match myself and jusf amazed how Federer fought the entire match. I was really amazed with his array of shots and his movement on the court, the result is his 16th grand slam title..

I feel a bit sad for Murray(He cried in his speech after the match) probably because of the expectations from his countrymen and the history.. but thats tennis and life.

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao Scandal with Krista Ranillo

I don’t if everyone seen and heard the news about the record breaking 7th weight division win by the pambansang kamao Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, expecting that it would be a smooth sailing until the recent video that is circulating the internet by storm. It is seen that Manny Pacquiao was spotted in his car with an unknown woman(or should I say someone already mention by other sites) after guesting in the Jimmy Kimmel Live. And is getting really obvious after seeing Jinky Pacquiao cried in the mass when the priest preached about love and family.

Well, if it isn’t what most people want to see, it is not only in the Philippines that the issue/scandal is rampant but also in other countries as well. It is just to show that Manny Pacquiao is a international icon and known not only in the Philippines but in the whole world.

I wonder what would the other people would say about the issue, especially with the boxers whom he defeater, I know it’s non of our business but hey, someone has got to say something. Maybe someone would say it is karma, or just a midlife crisis thing, well that what makes it interesting and also a good topic to talk(not really respectful anyway) but that’s what keeps it interesting not only in the ring but the outside as well.

Roger Federer : Wimbledon Champion …Again

It seems that no one can stop the Federer Express, not this time, not even for the longest match in Singles Men’s final history. I can consider myself already lucky to be in this generation and witnessed the greatest tennis player of all time play live (television),and do what no one has ever done in the sport.

Just recenlty he defeated the american Andy Roddick in an epic five setter match, in more than 4 hours of great tennis.

I’ll just create the list to describe about this Wimbledon achievement by Federer.

1. 15 Grand Slam Titles Surpassing Pete Sampras of 14
2. Return his rankings to world number 1
3. Longest match in Wimbledon Men’s Final
4. Glued his position as the ‘Greatest Player of All Time’
5. ..Still hungry to win more
6. lists goes on..

It’s just amazing to watch him play and how people admire his presence in and off court. Just as what Pete Sampras said, “he is not only a legend but an icon”. We will sure see more of Roger Federer victorious in the future.

Roger Federer : New French Open 2009 (Roland Garros) Champion

Robin Soderling—————————-Roger Federer

I just finished watching the French Open 2009 Tennis finals between Roger Federer and Robin Soderling and after the long wait and 4th consecutive Roland Garros Final, Roger Federer finally claimed his first French Open Title defeating Soderling in a 6-1 7-6 6-4 scoreline. Roger Federer dominated from the start of the match with a 6-1 win in the first set, then a tie break in the second which is the most tight part of the match and a nerve wracking third set.

As I watch in the final set and Roger Federer was serving for the match leading 5-4 in the third set. Roger just feel the tension and not serving at his best. Almost lost his serve but the Swiss hold on to his nerves and claim the title he has been chasing in his career. Not only he completed the 4 Grand Slam Titles, he equaled Pete Sampras’ 14 Grand Slam Record Title which for me considered Federer the greatest Tennis Player of all time.

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao defeats Ricky "Hitman" Hatton in 2nd Round

Once again the “Pambansang Kamao” shows us the power and speed in his recent fight with Ricky Hatton, In the 2nd Round of the fight, Manny Pacquiao KO’ed Ricky Hatton in a what it seemed the most one sided fight I have ever seen in Pacquiao’s fights.

Even Hattons trainer/coach Floyd Mayweather Sr. is stunned of Pacquiao’s performance. At the start of round 1, Manny already knocked Hatton down 2 times, first was the right hand and second the left hand. Hatton was even stunned and seemed didn’t know what hit him, in the second, Hatton was hit again by the very powerful left hand by Manny Pacquiao bringing Hatton down straight stopping the fight before the round 2 ends.

News says that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will come back to the boxing scene from retirement this July, which is rumored to be the next opponent for Manny Pacquiao.

Gerry Peñalosa defeated by Juan Manuel Lopez

I just saw the recent fight between Gerry Peñalosa and the undefeated Juan Manuel Lopez. Looking at the start of the round 1 the aggression of Lopez against Gerry. It’s really sad but true that the Puerto Rican dominated the fight from the start, though Gerry exchange some blows, it is not enough to startle the champion. The fight ended via TKO when coach Freddie Roach decided to stop the fight after the 9th round (which for me is a very wise decision)even with Gerry’s heart to continue to fight. Not to mention it is the only fight for Juan Manuel Lopez for the last to fights that reached after fight after the 1st round.

Lopez improved his undefeated record 25-0-0, 23KOs, while Gerry has 54-7-0 36KOs.

Well, there is still hope for the Filipino fans as Manny Pacquiao will step into the ring in a week and may he regain the honor of winning for probably the most important fight of his career.

Oscar "Golden Boy" Dela Hoya Surrenders Over Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao

Once again, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao proved again his might and power over the legend Oscar “Golden Boy” Dela Hoya in his much earlier. The taller and bigger Dela Hoya was no match for Manny even from the start of the first round.

Manny’s punches are much faster and stronger combined with his speed and footwork, it almost seem like a mismatch from the 5th round onwards. Honestly, I expected a closer fight or even Dela Hoya to win the fight because of his height, reach and experience as champion.

I have watched the fight in a regular broadcast (Not pay per view). It really is a nice scenery where the streets are quiet, people are gathering in their homes, or in theater, hotels, gyms to watch the fight. It news even reported that there was a zero crime rate during the duration of the Pacquaio vs Dela Hoya match. It would be nice to see this kind of scenery of peace and order even for a while.

And for Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao…”congratulations”

Roger Federer his 5th US Open

I haven’t really watched the live forecast of the US Open (I have been busy for work). I’ve just seen in the news that Federer did it again. Honestly, I am a Federer Fan and been in update of the sports (Tennis). Recently, Federer had a slump year, hasn’t really played at his best and his ranking from world number 1 to world no#2, replaced by current No.1 Rafael Nadal.

This US Open However is one of the most fantastic game played by Federer for a long time. Beating the Scott Andy Murray in Straight sets. Federer played the most convincing match in my opinion. Though this win did not retain his number one ranking. It did gave him a lot of confidence that he can retain the spot again.

Federer won 5 straight consecutive grandslams which is first in the open era. I am convinced that he will be world number 1 again.

Filipinos Olympics Latest Standing

There are currently 15 competitors in 8 sports event from the Philippines participating today in the Beijing olympics, If you have watched the opening ceremony the flag bearer is Manny Pacquiao. I have watched the opening and frankly it is one of the most fascinating thing I see, with the flying or roped tight torch bearer running skyrise with the screen in the walls.

Anyways, the Filipino athletes are already out there pursuing the first gold medal for the country. And who doesnt want to get the gold medal, the one who will win a gold medal will get a 15 million pesos reward and a car from the government (They really have that much?).

I dont know if It can really help our athletes, I mean, If they just donate the money not just for the gold but for the other athletes out there that are working hard with lack of equipments. I mean If they have that much money, why would just give it to the athletes who are struggling for support from the government not just when there is an olympics but in other events as well.

Its just my opinion and I bet It can add pressure to our athtletes but I do support our athletes and pray that they will win in their respective events. Well, thats it for now, if you want to know the current medal standings in the olympics including Philippines, heres the link to the official website, click the link:
